History: Aidan is the fourth born child of Gabriel and Anna Brooks. With her father in the Air Force, Aidan grew up all over the place on bases throughout the world. Such a life exposed her to different cultures and languages and instilled in her a sense of duty and wonder. Though her parents both were busy Aidan had a loving and close relationship with each of them, as well as her older brothers who tended to dote on her as the baby.

Aidan and each of her older brothers all ended up joining the armed forces with Aidan and Joseph, the two youngest, following their father into the Air Force (the eldest Michael joined the Navy, albeit as a pilot, and the second eldest, Ryan, joined the Army Rangers).

Interested in being career military Aidan graduated from the Air Force Academy with a degree in aviation and a rank of Second Lieutenant. She continued her training becoming a full fledged pilot, and rose through the ranks with quiet efficiency.

On a personal level she dated, albeit not often, with most men not meeting the standards she had set based off of the men in her life. The fact that Don't Ask Don't Tell was in effect meant her attraction to women was not compatible with her career so she tried not to give her feelings too much attention.

Her skills as a pilot coupled with the fact that she was not only a female but also conventionally attractive got her on the fast track to join the Air Force demo team the Thunderbirds. Nothing looked quite as good to some superiors as making her a poster girl so the could win diversity points. Aidan simply wanted to fly, but becoming a role model for other little girls appealed as well, so she was all too happy to follow along and by 2012 she was in her second season as a pilot, third overall, with the team. Ostensibly she was stationed at Nellis AFB in Nevada, but the team traveled enough that she didn't consider herself much of a resident of Las Vegas.

The team completed a show in Dayton OH, albeit just barely with half the team having come down with flu like symptoms. It was decided to give a day or two of rest before they were to fly back to Nellis but then air travel, even for them, became restricted and the team was stuck. Slowly her friends and teammates each succumbed to the strange flu while Aidan remained healthy. Complicating matters were the dreams she was having...

Eventually it seemed everyone in Dayton but Aidan was dead and so she struck out westward - ostensibly to see if her parents were still alive in Colorado...though she thought it wouldn't hurt to stop in Nebraska along the way.

Things happened on the road, people were encountered and the less said about that time the better. All in all between the people and the dreams Aidan suddenly wasn't so keen on heading even to Boulder - no matter what this 'Mother Abigail' promised she would find there. But, before she could turn and head in a different direction she met a small group of people lead by two men. They were friendly and more importantly not insane (even if they claimed to be Immortal...a claim that was backed up by some impressive healing abilities she had to admit) and just as nervous about heading to Boulder as she was. She decided what the hell and threw her lot in with them. In the least a group would offer more protection that being on her own would. And protection was something she knew she might need given what her dreams of Vegas were telling her...

Character's full name: Jessica "Jess" Combs
Aliases: Deborah Jenkins, Emma Pelletier
Played By: Heidi
Character Type: Immortal
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
True age: late 20s
Apparent age: 57
Sex: Female
Height: 5'7"
Build: Slender
Nationality: American
Distinguishing characteristics: None
Any other languages: Spanish, French
Personality: Calculating, intelligent, cunning and patient.
Any special skills: None
History: Jess was born Deborah Jenkins to an upper class family in California. Her upbringing and in fact most of her life was rather unremarkable until she met Damon Pelletier. Damon was French and amazing and Deborah fell for him hard. They became lovers when she was 22 and planned to spend their lives together. Lives that were supposed to be very long ones when Damon told her he was an Immortal and that she would be one too someday. Deborah became Emma and the two ran away together to Montreal where, when Emma turned 27 they killed her so she would be young and beautiful forever.
They turned heavily to a life of crime once Emma's money from her parents ran out, living life to the fullest and killing anyone that got in their way.
Happily Ever After only lasted for a few more years for the couple when, on a trip to New York Damon challenged a one armed Immortal thinking he would get a quickening cheap and easy. As it turned out, Damon wasn't a match for the other Immortal and Emma watched in horror as her lover was killed. She vowed vengeance but was unable to take it that day - she knew she'd have to become better with the blade herself - and also discover who the one armed man was.
Years passed and Emma became Jess - better with a blade than she had been before and now a ruthless and cunning opponent where once she had been clueless. When the plague broke out she easily gave in to the dreams of Vegas - all Flagg had to do was tell her where to find the one armed man and she'd do anything for him.

Played By: Heidi
Character Type: Mortal
Hair Color: Dark Blonde
Eye Color: blue
True age: 33
Apparent age: 33
Sex: Male
Height: 6'2"
Build: Muscular but not absurdly buff. He's been told he has the shoulder to waist ratio of a perfect triangle thus his nickname of 'Dorito.'
Nationality: American
Distinguishing characteristics: Watcher tattoo on wrist.
Any other languages: German, French, Welsh, passable with assorted Brittonic languages
Personality: Calm and capable, good leadership qualities, and a wicked sense of humor. Outspoken in his beliefs. Despite his intelligence he comes across as 'one of the guys' and 'just a dude' rather than an academic - at least at first blush.
Any special skills: Good with languages
History: Born in Brooklyn to Sarah and Joseph Stevens, Colin was never close to his father who for the first few years of his life was fighting in the Vietnam War. Joseph came back a changed man, he wasn't abusive with his family, just distant and not as loving as Sarah could recall him being, and prone to bouts of melancholy and never seemed able to bond with his only child. Colin loved his father but from that early age didn't have the best opinion of what had happened to him or trust in the US military to do right by its soldiers.

With his mother working and his father distant, Colin spent a great deal of time with his maternal grandparents. Born during the Great War and having both done their part during World War Two, his grandparents were a font of interesting stories - very important things to a boy that spent an inordinate amount of his childhood sick (fortunately for Colin, puberty meant outgrowing many of his childhood afflictions).

It was actually through his grandmother Ethel that Colin found his purpose in life. She had always told Colin she was a historian and had instilled in him a sense of learning from the past in order to make the future better. When Colin turned 15 his grandmother told him what she really did for a living - she was a Watcher and she had been tracking and researching the lives of Immortals for most of her life. Pretty heady and exciting stuff for a fifteen year old but it captured his attention like nothing else and he decided on that day to take after his grandmother and become a Watcher.

For undergraduate he went to Brown and then did his graduate work at Oxford. From there it was off to the Watcher Academy in Switzerland and finally a coveted position with the organization. He was given an active assignment straight out of the Academy - Alwyn of the Cornovii who was currently under the name of Alvin Jones. Things were going smoothly, Colin settled in nicely in Cardiff where Alvin was currently living, and Colin began work on his doctorate while also working in a pub to supplement his Watchers income. Then, three years later Alvin was killed in battle with another immortal.

The Watchers switched Colin over to research where he took over the Ceirdwyn of the Iceni Chronicle. He continued to work on his doctorate and was able to move back to the states, switching to Yale, where he also took courses to get his teaching certification as a backup option for alternate jobs in case he was ever given another assignment.

As luck would have it, when he turned 30, he was given another active Immortal assignment - Ezekiel Gideon. His grandmother, now in her 80s and finally considering retirement, was more than a little excited for her grandson because she had been Ezekiel's Watcher during the 50's and 60's - he was her last active assignment. That excitement of carrying on her legacy eased some of the sting of having to move to South Phoenix rather than being able to stay on the East Coast.

He'd just finished the school year and was looking forward to a visit from his grandmother, and worrying about defending his doctoral thesis in the fall, when the flu broke out. His grandmother arrived in time to have one good day with Colin before she fell ill. He did everything he could for her but eventually had to take her to the hospital - where he happened to run into his assignment. They'd run into one another a few times on a professional basis but he'd never made actual friends with the man despite wanting to try. His grandmother was out of it but not too out of it that she didn't recognize her former assignment and there was a moment when she was left alone with him when Colin asked Ezekiel to watch her when the doctor asked him to step outside. Ezekiel said nothing when Colin returned so he didn't think anything of his grandmother's babbling.

Eventually, sadly, she passed. Colin doesn't know quite what happened to her body as by that point lots of people were sick and dying and he was rather forcefully told to leave the hospital and that someone would get ahold of him for arrangements. No one ever did. He went home and spent the last few days of the human race as he knew it contemplating drinking to the point of oblivion but never quite getting there. Eventually everything settled down he knew he had to do something - especially since he'd begun to have the strangest dreams...

Colin was never one to be alone for long so he set out to find the one other person he knew for sure would be alive in Phoenix - Ezekiel.
